About Katie ...

I have worked with riders as an Equestrian Performance Coach for over 15 years and like to work specifically to improve riders position, fitness and function as athletes to enable them to work in a better partnership with their horses for better results.

My passion for horses began the day I was put on my sisters 12.2 pony before I could even walk. I have since ridden and competed all through my life over a wide range of levels from local to National level and in a variety of disciplines (dressage, show jumping and eventing). I have represented my Pony Club, Riding Club and University on many occasions and attended many National Championships for all and have also competed at affiliated level in Show Jumping and Dressage. Throughout my riding career I have also received training by a number of highly respected riders and professionals and as a result gaining valuable ridden experience.

Whilst competing and riding I decided to also undertake Equestrian qualifications, starting in Pony Club and working up through the stages to become a registered BHS Accredited Professional Coach.

Having a very keen passion for all sports I decided I would not only study horses at university but had a great interest in the rider as an athlete and so completed a degree in Human and Equine Sports performance. During this course I expanded my knowledge on riders, rider fitness, rider performance, posture analysis, biomechanics, rider nutrition, fitness testing, sports psychology and many other aspects which enables me to focus on the rider and their needs to function and perform successfully. I also completed my dissertation on rider fitness and the effects of correct nutrition and mental states within the rider.

I then continued my education in fitness by undertaking my level 2 fitness exams in 2010. Forever improving my knowledge for rider fitness and have also recently completed my level 3 personal training qualification so am able to train clients in more depth and on a 1-1, bespoke basis.

I am very interested in rider psychology and helping riders to build confidence and find ways to deal with nerves and anxiety when riding. Having studied sports psychology on my university degree I now hope to expand this knowledge by taking further education in the area, to enable me to work with riders and their mindset in more depth.
